May 31 is World No Tobacco Day
May 31 of each year is World No Tobacco Day, organized to highlight the health risks associated with tobacco use. Tobacco use is the second leading cause of death globally (after hypertension) and is currently responsible for killing one in 10 adults worldwide. If you are a smoker, and you want to stop, maybe this can be the day to join the world and quit smoking.
Nicotine replacement products help relieve some of the withdrawal symptoms people experience when they quit smoking. The American Cancer Society has detailed information on the different nicotine replacement therapies here.
To be most effective, nicotine replacement products should be used in conjunction with a behavior change program.
