Our Podiatry department works closely with primary care physicians and specialists to identify and treat those patients with either acute or chronic conditions that require specialized foot care.
Patients with diabetes can benefit from working with a podiatrist, as diabetes can cause serious complications involving the feet. Damaged nerve fibers and reduced blood flow can result in increased likelihood of injury and wounds that don’t heal normally. Podiatrists work with diabetes patients to not only treat foot problems, but also to develop preventive measures to reduce the risk of complications.
Patients with a variety of other foot problems such as pain, deformity and tissue damage resulting from metabolic, arthritic, mechanical, infectious or traumatic causes can also benefit from seeing a podiatrist. Podiatry utilizes a range of modalities that include orthotics, medical therapies and surgical intervention to ensure patients receive the best possible treatment and outcomes.
