Whether you’re interested in reducing your risk of disease and chronic illness, improving the quality of your life, or you just want to feel better, nutrition plays a key role in achieving your goals. The Polyclinic offers nutrition consulting with our registered dietitian at both our First Hill and downtown locations. Patients receive personalized counseling and education to meet their unique needs using a non-diet, whole foods approach.
Primary Services
The clinic’s dietitian provides nutrition counseling and education to patients regarding all
nutrition-related concerns, such as:
• Diabetes: type 1 and type 2
• Pre-diabetes
• Gestational diabetes
• Weight loss
• Lipid abnormalities
• Polycystic ovarian syndrome
• Metabolic syndrome
• Hypertension
• Child and adolescent nutrition (for children over age two)
• Sports nutrition
• Food allergies and intolerances (i.e. gluten intolerance)
To schedule a nutrition consult, ask your physician or provider for a referral, then call central scheduling at 206.860.2208 to make and appointment. The first visit will be 60 minutes long, and all subsequent visits are usually 30 minutes. Please keep a one week record of your food and beverage intake and bring it to your first nutrition visit. You'll find a printable food diary here (Word DOC).
Note: Most major insurance companies include coverage for nutrition services with a registered dietitian for a medical condition in which dietary adjustment has a therapeutic role, and when it is prescribed by a physician or physician extender (i.e. physician assistant, nurse practitioner). Check with your insurance company to find out what your specific plan offers.
