According to the American Cancer Society, over 60,000 individuals will be diagnosed with melanoma this year. Characterized by the uncontrolled growth of pigment-producing cells, melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer, accounting for 80 percent of all skin cancer deaths. If detected in its early stages, however, melanoma is highly curable.
The Polyclinic has added nutritional services to its offering of health care specialties with the addition of a dietitian, Meghann Moore Mellon, MPH, RD, CD. She is available to see patients at both The Polyclinic’s First Hill and downtown locations.
