Dr. Leonard earned her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine after receiving her bachelors degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
She completed her internship and residency training at the University of Washington Medical Center, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Experience and background:
Dr. Leonard has extensive experience in all areas of obstetrics and gynecology, caring for women for over 17 years in private practice, hospitals, large multi-specialty clinics, and most recently providing care through Doctors Without Borders - a humanitarian organization providing medical care in over 70 countries worldwide.
She worked at ABQ Health Partners & Women’s Health Services and Lovelace hospitals in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 2003-2010, where in addition to maintaining a busy practice she enjoyed training University of New Mexico residents in OB/Gyn.
Prior to that she practiced at the Santa Barbara Medical Foundation Clinic, and the Women’s OB/Gyn Medical Group in Santa Rosa, California.
Since 2010, Dr. Leonard has been volunteering as an obstetrician/gynecologist with Doctors Without Borders in Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Haiti. Among her roles with this organization, she served as co-director of a high-risk OB hospital referral center and administrator of maternity and anesthesia departments, supervised OB/Gyn surgeries, and managed OB/GYN physicians and midwives, among many other duties.
Dr. Leonard enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology with a special interest in high-risk obstetrics, vaginal surgery, teenage and menopausal medicine as well as global maternal- fetal health issues in underserved populations.
She has spent several years as a volunteer OB/Gyn for an international agency.

In addition to her passion for her work, Dr. Leonard enjoys many other activities including swimming, yoga, hiking, cooking, reading, traveling, and especially spending time with her sons.
