Fosamax Study

May 1, 2008- You may have seen the recent media coverage regarding an observational study published in the April 28, 2008 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine raising the possibility of an association between the medication Fosamax and an abnormal rhythm of the heart called atrial fibrillation. This study reported a small increase in the likelihood of atrial fibrillation in patients who had ever taken Fosamax, which is typically prescribed for osteoporosis. The study findings should be considered individually on a case-by-case basis for each patient and thus it is recommended that you discuss any concerns with your physician prior to making any changes to your Fosamax regimen.

Brightening our Community

More than ever, The Polyclinic is a bright spot in our community – literally.  If you haven’t checked out the latest addition to The Polyclinic yet, be sure to take a look at the newly installed mural on The Polyclinic’s fence along Broadway.  The brightly colored 8-foot by 16-foot mural was created by ArtWorks, a local non-profit agency that empowers young people through professional opportunities in the arts.

Polyclinic Patients Share Their Experiences

The Polyclinic is launching its first-ever TV advertising campaign starting the week of April 28 to let the community know more about who we are and why we’re here.  The commercials feature real Polyclinic patients in unscripted conversations about why they like The Polyclinic and what makes us unique.  Patient after patient talked (unscripted) about how they appreciate the personal attention they receive from staff, how their doctors take time to listen, and how they feel they’re “treated like family.”
